While I have confessed to my aversion to weddings, I can’t help but love them for their sartorial opportunity. There are too few occasions to wear satin and heels, and I’ll eagerly begin the hunt upon the arrival of the Save The Date.
Guest outfits can be a challenge—toeing the line between appropriate formality and stuffy, not to mention the age-old issue of chic, but comfortable enough dancing shoes. I’ve found that mini dresses with kitten heels or flats, or if you’re lucky enough, nice cowboy boots can solve this problem.
I’ve been enjoying learning how to rewear dresses and accessories, and dress them down in my day-to-day life. The Ronny Kobo dress with pink flip-flop kitten heels I wore to Meg’s Greenpoint bar wedding easily transformed into a Malibu beach wedding with the addition of vintage, pink Pucci sunglasses. Most dresses, too, can be dressed down with a pair of sneakers or a casual jacket. Should I write more about this?
On Instagram, I asked for wedding dress codes and prompts for real-life weddings. Here is what I dreamed up:
