Going for a walk without headphones, $0
Headphones in New York City are almost essential—noise-canceling AirPods provide a small sense of peace amid the chaos, especially during a commute. But I realized earlier this year that I was reaching for mine to take an eight-minute walk to the grocery store… I didn’t like this antisocial behavior in myself, so I set a new rule: I can only wear headphones when I’m commuting on the subway alone or going for a long, exercise-style walk (we’re talking 30-45 minutes one way). For my daily mental health walks or quick errands to the library, store, or coffee shop, I go without headphones. There’s so much world out there—the birds in the morning, saying hello to passing neighbors, accepting compliments on my sandals (the Tevas, of course). This is one of the best changes I’ve made in my life.
(I have also noticed, now that I no longer look younger than 25, that I rarely get catcalled. Headphones were great for that, because ignorance is bliss… It’s genuinely one of the best parts of aging…)
Youth to People Superberry Hydrate and Glow Dream Mask, $52
I’ve used and replaced this product for years now. I have dry skin that needs all the hydration it can get, and this “sleeping mask” delivers exactly what it promises. I put it on after all my skincare and moisturizer (another beloved product, the huge Vanicream tub for $21—it lasts forever). It’s like slugging, but without the stickiness. In the winter, I occasionally apply it to dry problem areas after my makeup. It has a great, creamy texture and feels so luxurious to use.

Platform Crocs, $60
The perfect shoe! I wear the classic Crocs ($50) as my house shoe, but it’s the platform Crocs that are my daily outside shoes. I like this style because the clogs’ height is tall enough to make them feel kind of fancy (lol) and because they appear smaller than regular Crocs. I think regular Crocs can somewhat resemble… hooves.
If you’re between half sizes, use the smaller size.

Free People workout tank, $30
Disclaimer: I am not a runner and don’t need a lot of support as a C-cup, but these workout tanks are my favorite. I wear them for cycling, pilates, and yoga, and I always feel good in them.
I have a few different colors, but the black washes the best. I’ve had most of them for 4 to 5 years now! I recommend sizing down, ie, I typically wear a M in tops but much prefer the fit of the XS/S here. I also like the high-neck style ($30).

Laneige lip mask, $24
This lip mask consistently appears on beauty product recommendation lists. I thought it was overrated until I started wearing it every single night. Now, I don’t go to bed without it. I have dry skin, but I rarely need chapstick in winter, as long as I use this product at night. I keep the tub on my nightstand (in the vanilla because it’s the most chic) and the tube in my makeup to wear as a lip gloss.

Nippies nipple covers, $26
Occasionally, it’s chic and sexy to nip out; other times, you’re at a family wedding and need to keep some things to the imagination. I swear by these silicone nipple covers when I go braless. I even wore them to my wedding! They’re easy to wash, store, and can be kept forever.

American Frame
I’ve been using American Frame for years now, and they are my go-to for printing and framing. Their product images are true-to-life, but you can request frame and mat samples for a few dollars. The print quality is good, and they also have what I consider to be the chicest thing ever—oval mats! We are framing our bedroom gallery wall in rustic white oak.
Zwiesel wine glasses, $68 for 4
We regularly host and needed to add to our wine glass collection. Our stemless IKEA wine glasses were slowly breaking, and I decided it was time to upgrade to a stemmed style, especially now that we mostly drink chilled wines. I did a bunch of research and ultimately settled on Zwiesel’s red wine glasses, which wine pros on Reddit recommended as all-purpose. I’ve been really happy with these glasses!
